Alison has lived in Buntingford for over 10 years and was greatly saddened to hear of the pool’s closure.
She is a deputy head teacher of a Primary School in Stevenage and has served as a Governor at several schools, including Millfield First and Nursery School in Buntingford. During her career, she has both taught swimming and worked as a pool lifeguard. This has given her a good understanding of the importance of children‘s swimming from an academic, life skill and health/wellbeing perspective.

She is also the parent of two teenagers who currently attend Freman College, both of whom learnt to swim at the Ward Freman pool. One has since gone on to compete at Herts County level in swimming.  She also has experience of acting as a trustee with Buntingford Scouts and is keen to keep the pool open and accessible to everyone locally but especially for the children in the local community.
