It’s never too early for Christmas!
We’re looking forward to welcoming you all to our Table Top Sale and Christmas Jumper swap shop at Seth Ward Community Centre on Sunday 16th November.

The concept of swapping to renew your festive jumper exactly fits with our ethos of running the pool as environmentally friendly as possible. Come along from 10am to drop your jumper off and possibly replace it from 10.30am – 11am. Any which are not swapped will be then offered for sale. Perfect for children outgrowing items or grown ups just fancying a change!
There will also be eighteen other stalls for you to browse offering a selection of preloved items as well as a range of festive goods to purchase. Along with a stall run in aid of Marie Curie and we will have a raffle with lots of lovely prizes to be won including our Ward Freman knitted duck!
Do pop in and enjoy a home made cake or hot sausage roll. We have hot and cold drinks which can be supplied to take away in our new and exclusive insulated cup! These cups have been made possible by a generous grant from the Veolia Sustainability Fund. This fund supports projects that promote sustainability and community development. We’re grateful that they saw the value in what we are trying to achieve. So, no single use plastics here! This will be continued when the pool reopens and we have a café, takeaway drinks will be served in these cups with the purchaser paying a deposit. Simply return the cup and get your deposit back. Alternatively keep the cup and bring it next time (or any other travel cup) for another drink.
Christmas Market
On Friday 28th November we will have a stall at Buntingford Christmas Market. Our ethos of reusing materials continues as we are selling ‘as new’ pre loved books, ready wrapped up (from old book pages) to give as Christmas presents or simply to treat yourself. Each book has a Good Reads rating and a few clues as to the genre of the book, but you don’t know what you are going to get.

Old damaged books and magazines have been crafted into star decorations, whilst there are lucky dip boxes made from magazine pages and containing some book lovers sweet treats, great for children and big kids! We hope the boxes are taken home and reused as small gift boxes.

To take all your shopping home we have small paper bags (recycled from an old road atlas) or our jute shopping bags to purchase.
If you have any ideas for fundraising please do get in touch. We are on the verge of signing the freehold and taking control of the building and along with that the running costs. Even with the pool still closed there are costs involved with keeping the building safe and secure, let alone all the refurbishment costs. The more money we can raise now, the greater the amount of refurbishment we can achieve before opening and thus less interruption in the coming years.
