The painting of the foyer and reception has continued this week. It looks like three coats will be required after all. Luckily, thanks to the Wickes Community Programme there is plenty. The “Limescale Ladies” Anna and Vicky were back descaling and making a fantastic job of it! 

The pool hall sodium lights were replaced with modern, efficient LED flood lights which not only make the place a lot brighter, are much cheaper to run!   

Our version of the new Pope’s selection happened this week as white smoke (Well, water vapour) was seen rising over the building! What this actually signified was that a real milestone was reached. The boilers, which JCS kindly donated and their Ross (centre) and Gareth White’s Bill (left) pictured with Jason himself, have been working on for these past weeks were fired up and adjusted! These, together with our investment in intelligent control features and dynamic pumps mean that they are 98% efficient and therefore the running costs will be considerably lower than the previous ones. It’s amazing to think that equipment no bigger than a fridge freezer will be heating the entire building and pool!

Behind the scenes, Diane George got to grips with sorting the donated books for either selling on to World of Books or recycling. This could raise a further £200 so a big thank you to everyone who donated those pre read books, you really have made a difference. 

The other big news is that a new firm of contractors arrived this week. H2O are here to begin the work to connect the pool to the filter via some pretty hefty pipes and yes, lovely big pumps! More of that in the next the blog post….
