Refurb Week 19
We were fortunate to be approached by Richard Stevens of local flooring company RCS Flooring Ltd at the Freman College open evening. With the building work complete, he has donated his skill and time to lay a new floor in the kitchen this week which, combined with Rob and Evolving Spaces’ units will make it a room to be proud of. Robin returned to put the finishing touches to the reception desk which looks fabulous.

Still on the cafe project, but away from the practicalities of the kitchen, we had a meeting with local coffee suppliers Morvend this week. After sampling a few different blends, my head was spinning from a caffeine overdose! Luckily our resident “Cofficianado” Giuseppe was on hand to make sure we picked the right one! Morvend will be supplying the machine and beans so you can be assured of a proper coffee and a choice of teas (the hot chocolate is very good too!)

Another local company offering their support this week as the water level slowly rose, was Jon Noonan of Thorns Group Event Hire. He has offered to provide us with tables and chairs and other items for the cafe/foyer. Momentum really is building! It is wonderful that so many local firms are getting behind the project and supporting this most valuable local asset. Interestingly, the common quotes from them are: “I learnt / used to swim here” and “This brings back memories” which is great and reaffirms that what we are doing is of value.

Adrian Camp from Pool Cover Servicing got in touch through Facebook too and has offered to service the pool cover. This is a fundamental piece of equipment and we are fortunate to have Adrian on board. The cover prevents loss of both heat and water by evaporation thereby saving on running costs. We did give it a trial run once there was a sufficient amount of water in the pool to float it, as there were rumours that it was faulty. All seemed to be OK as we got it three quarters of the way across the pool and (fortunately) back again.

The week was rounded off by Paul from H2O returning to commission the filter and circulation pumps. Another hugely significant moment, as water could be felt being pushed through the inlets and the sound of machinery running filled the plant room once again!
