Week 14
September is here and summer is over, as week 14 of the refurb draws to a close. This has been the last week of work on the tiling which is quite a milestone! The channel tiles have been spray painted and the final lengths of expansion joint have been completed. The finishing touches are the new inlet covers with their modern regulation 8mm gaps rather than the previous finger trapping 12mm and new, again regulation compliant, ladder treads.

Behind the scenes, work is about to begin on the chemical dosing equipment installation in the plant room and the pool water heat exchanger has been connected to the boilers. (A clear plan has also been agreed upon for the shower upgrades and instal too.)

A bit more woodwork painting has been done by new volunteers John and Isobelle Massey, who also assisted in replacing all the door furniture. Tiler Mark was back on the scene to apply grout to some open joints in the lobby areas. There were some less salubrious jobs to be done including clearing a blocked pipe or two and fixing a toilet cistern.

All this is in readiness for our open day on Saturday 5th coinciding with the Classic Car Show. Do pop in and say hello and get a real sense of progress, as well as enjoying a cuppa and a slice of home made cake (if you’re quick!)
