Refurb Week 15
This week has been dominated by preparations for the Classic Car Show where we were pleased to host our first open day. Bob and Dunk-an gave the foyer the once over with Jo Ryman and Vicky Fairey, whilst Diane Tuck created the informative displays. Elsewhere, a bit of paint detailing was undertaken by new volunteer Jack Bonner and Ted Waller was back finishing off the door painting and staining. Visitors to the open day were able to inspect the newly repaired pool tiles and see progress in the changing rooms and other “dry” areas. Trustees were on hand to answer questions and report on progress too.

The professional refurbishment work has scaled back slightly this week as we await for calendars to align. The next job being the installation of the chemical dosing equipment. JCS have though made a start on painting the plant room floor!

What is really exciting to report is that a wonderful, anonymous donor has this week provided the funds necessary for our builder Will Brownless to undertake the work necessary to knock through (my lovely newly painted!) wall on the left hand side of the foyer to create the counter for the cafe and additional viewing from the former male staff changing room. This will mean that on opening, not only will there be better than before pool viewing, but parents and carers and anyone else passing by – perhaps on the dog walk, can enjoy a coffee and a cake whilst watching the lessons. The fit out for the cafe kitchen has been made possible by the generosity of Mark Lewis’s annual Golf Day and donations made during the Car Show open day. A huge thank you to those golfers and open day visitors!
Freman College had their prize giving ceremony on Wednesday evening which allowed us again to open and show off progress. It also highlighted a slight issue with the sign lights as can be seen above. Luckily Dunk-an was on hand to fix them!
