Saturday 6th September saw Buntingford High Street closed to through traffic but full of cars, motorbikes and pedestrians as Buntingford Chamber of Commerce held its annual Classic Car Event. Trustees Alison, Frazer, Joanne and Sheila along with volunteer Lucy spent the day updating the public on the progress of the swimming pool along with a guess the number of tyres in the jar competition.

Terry Smith, our Hertfordshire County Councillor popped by providing us with the opportunity to express the importance of HCC making a timely decision on the future of the pool, ideally by granting our charity the lease.

Jodie Hudson walked away at the end of the day with a big bar of chocolate and an exclusive Ward Freman Duck (wearing his lifejacket because he didn’t learn to swim) by making the closest guess to the number of tyres in the jar. Did you know that Lego is the largest manufacturer of tyres and you can fit 131 (of various sizes) in an Ikea jar! The competition was a bit of fun, encouraging children (and adults) to put their Maths estimating skills into practise and raised £49.

Louise Hampton at Attend2Health was giving away car shaped balloons for a donation to our charity and raised £188.48. Our thanks go to her and the team at Attend2Health along with everyone who donated.

Our presence at the event (next door to a beautiful Nissan Figaro) couldn’t have been possible without the kind loan of a gazebo, table and white board from Edwinstree Middle School, so many thanks also to the Mr Kitto (Site Manager) for organising.
Through competitions, bag sales and donations we raised £340.88!
