The wonderful, we are calling them the “Limescale Ladies” Vicky Fairey, Diane Tuck and Anna Dousek continued their tireless efforts, begun by Jo and Ben Willis, to eradicate the limescale in both shower rooms this week. The task proved more testing than first thought but after a period of trialing the most effective technique (and chemical!) the job was completed. The addition of a working water softener, (the old one clearly having been bypassed many years ago!) plus a conscientious cleaning regime, should mean we keep on top of this issue in future.

The donation of paint thanks to the generosity of the Wickes Community Fund and Crown Paints arrived this week and a team of volunteers immediately set to work masking off and cutting in the reception and foyer areas ready for painting, to finally dispense with those grey walls. Our thanks go to Andrea Allen, Ted Waller, Roseanne Bantick and Claudia Willett.

Taking advantage of the tiler’s holiday, we pressed on with upgrading the pool lighting. The first order of business being the erection of two sets of scaffolding along the pool sides. Many thanks to Webb Scaffolding for their assistance with this! How many men does it take to change a light bulb? Well, seven so far! Gareth White’s chaps will be completing that as well as installing some control equipment for the boilers in the plant room over the coming days.

You may have seen us at Aspenden fair this week too. Once again we were offering second hand books for sale (which raised nearly £250) and chatting to some lovely people, all keen to get back in the water! That is moving ever closer with the engineering well underway and the boilers almost certainly being commissioned next week! Exciting stuff!
